tandoori den - 261 camberwell road camberwell 3124 9813 2598

it's not like you won't notice tandoori den or run the risk of driving past it with it's subtle neon sign and packed with customers with an average age of 50. yes, that's average age. and you know what happens when you get to that magical age. suddenly time is more important that anything else in the world. including sex although i cannot imagine that. dinner is required to be at a certain time. the meal should progress at an appropriate pace and it's all over by 10 o'clock. and so tandoori den seems to be geared to the silver generation's needs.

anyway, allow me to return from my tangential travels. tandoori den is twenty steps from camberwell junction. it's not a big place. it's not too noisy. it's not too anything really. i mean, i can't quite put my finger on it but nothing really inspired me. sure, the food was good. the wine was fine. but it was just all a little...meh. it wasn't shockingly expensive or surprisingly cheap but maybe that's just me looking for some excitement in all aspects of my life. now that i think about it, if it really were any of those things, the crumblies probably wouldn't be out in their droves from 8pm to 10pm friday, saturday and sunday like clockwork. kind of reminds me of donovans in st kilda.

go, go see it for yourself. it's a 'nice' place. just don't expect to see me there pushing you aside to get the best table. maybe with a little thought the tandoori den could become the 'tandoori den of sin' or 'den of debauchery'. but i doubt it.
