the bridge - bendigo

this is a happy story of good food and nice wine in gumdrop restaurant on lollypop lane. it truly was an enjoyable dining experience and if you don't go, you're stupid. the bridge restaurant is part of the bridge hotel. up front is all vb beer and sweaty blokes playing pool and watching the footy, a truly sublime pastime if you are a sweaty bloke who likes vb, playing pool and watching footy. at the back, the bridge restaurant is something else altogether. it even has a separate door so you don't have to run the gauntlet past the sweaties.

i'm gong to be very boring here and say that we had great service and great food. vegetarian options were more than just a bunch of grilled vegetables on a skewer (see squire's loft). they had good wines, great seafood with awesome oysters to start. and this far inland, oysters are not a done deal by any means. coffees were just right and desserts were chocolaty - is there any other way they should be?

the bridge - where some grit on your table from a vent above scores you a free round of drinks. guaranteed (not a guarantee). note that this is not likely to work if you just sprinkle grit on the table, though. it has to be an act of god. in summary, you are not likely to go too far wrong with the bridge. enjoy.
