i'm not sure what i expected at mark's place. they have linen napkins and generally older staff than you would expect but don't be fooled. i didn't feel special nor welcome. 'we're just here for dessert' = i am a second class diner. they put us up front so that we'd be closer to the door and quicker to leave.

speaking of dessert, the creme brulee (although it probably had some other fancyschmancy name) was 'delicious' and the semifreddo (or 'not-so-cold-ice-cream-with-fudge' as i like to call it) was pretty good. let's face it, when you decide that it's dessert day, all the things that you usually like to cram in after a steak (or veggie burger, mmsumthing and starlet!) taste that much better. if you've never had a dessert day i thoroughly recommend it. there are rules, though...

1. everything must be a dessert or appear on a sweet menu
2. coffee qualifies, especially one with sweet stuff in it
3. cheese is ok as long as you have it with sweet wine
4. pancakes for breakfast qualifies (yay)
5. fruit does not!

and that's it. try it, you'll love it.

oh yeah, mark's place. didn't like it, won't go back.
