waves - margaret river western australia (you'll see it...)

staff bad, food good = i'm not happy. it has to be this way. at waves, staff very bad. you very bad staff! bad, bad staff! when you have to ask for food digging things and napkins after your food has arrived, that can't be good. i don't mind the slow pace over in wa but i just think it'd be nice to be able to eat the food put in front of me wihtout resorting to using my hands or stealing forks from the nearby tables. call me crazy.

it turns out that the fish dish for 2 people was sufficient to solve world hunger for a day or so but that doesn't make up for the lack of service. no tip for the staff at waves. they might as well employ monkeys for half the price and the entertainment factor of flinging poo at each other. come to think of it, i never checked out the back...

i'm not likely to be back in margaret river soon but in the event that i do find myself in that neck of the woods again and there's nothing open but waves and i haven't eaten for days, i'll get takeaway.

  1. i think the waves building was the old Marg. River tourist centre and they just kept on the same staff to be waitresses. Most senior waitress was about 19 yrs old. Food was amazing but service was non-existent, as you correctly point out. On our way to our car at the back of the restaurant we overheard one of their young chefs complaining about how much he hated working there. Something is not quite right...
