murasaki japanese restaurant - 24 russell st melbourne 3000 9654 5437

they say it is the mark of a good ethnic restaurant when the majority of diners are from that ethnic background. i say you're a tosser if you go around making comments like that. but realistically the mark of a good ethnic restaurant is if the food is tasty and there is some level of service above a grunt from the waiter and your meal being hurled directly from the kitchen. but hey, you're all entitled to my balanced and objective opinion.

murasaki is neither of these things. it's so much more. if it were a person, murasaki would be your alpha male. that person who is well-built, good looking but not arrogant and is relaxed enough to be everyone's mate. all the girls want to do him and all the guys want to be him. ok, that might be where the analogy between social psychology and restaurant reviews falls down a bit. i'm not saying that girls want to get down on their knees and suck or even that guys start questioning their hetrosexuality and wonder if they might enjoy a little tussle on the floor. you see what happens with analogies. but i digress.

the food at murasaki is brilliant, the service always friendly and fast and the atmosphere relaxed and inviting. it is a good place to take a newly-beloved's parents because you can be sure that the restaurant won't do anything to embarrass you. then all you have to worry about is yourself and trying not to fuck up in front of them.
