kuni's japanese restaurant - 56 little bourke st melbourne 3000 9663 7243

over attentive waiters. they kept trying to take our order, fill our wine glasses or take the empties away. if you're used to being ignored, this is going to really get your goat. it will give you the shits. if, on the other hand, you want to run in, order now, eat without breathing and get out, this is your nirvana. it's a kind of mcdonalds experience.

otherwise, this is going to be a really boring review. kuni's was packed on tuesday night, the food was really good (i was temporarily japanese in a past life) and the prices are reasonable. you should take your own 1994 shiraz rather than rely on an expensive bottle of cheap rubbish but don't expect any finesse in the serving forum. if you've ever been to japan you'll know that they cannot understand the concept of 'bring it all together'. 'bring it'. 'yes'. 'all to-get-her'. 'yes'. and so the food comes one dish at a time. they just don't get it. i've tried every trick in the book, i learned japanese, and i've even tried drawing a picture. no go. another bridge-building experience. i guess i'm going up against three thousand years of culture.

am i being unfair? i don't care.
