ezards at adelphi - 187 flinders lane melbourne 3000 9639 6811
sweet and salty chocolate balls. sounds like a menu item from felicity's fuck house. mai, non. they are just about the best after-dinner sweets i have ever had. i will eat dinner there just to get the choc knobs. there's a very japanese flavour to the food here. sure you can get a steak done very excellently, but why would you when you can have an oyster shooter. it's an oyster in a sweet sake-based shooter with wasabi. and you shoot it. hence the name. very original, i thought.
ezards (eddie's place, i like to call it) is one of those places that you would have a hard time finding if you weren't looking for it. it's in the basement of the adelphi hotel in flinders lane. bet you didn't know there was a hotel called the adelphi in flinders lane. see what i mean? anyway, eddie ezard is the owner and head chef and he does a damn good job by any standard. mention the possibility of dinner at ezards and i'm in the back seat of the car, making vroom vroom noises and asking 'are we there yet?' so fast it'd make your eyes water.
the last word, i like ezards. i couldn't find anything to complain about, especially since i wasn't paying for dinner. ezards is high on my list of future eateries.
