jeremy's hardware cafe - hardware lane melbourne 3000 (if you don't know where hardware lane is, you suck!)

so i'm on a quest for the holy grail a weekend breakfast in melbourne's cbd, that is. after some dreadful suggestions from friends and fellow connoisseurs (block arcade? please! that place couldn't serve breakfast if it was on a platter with a try-hard herb garnish) i was quite hopeful about hardware lane. so it was with a heart full of optimism that i approached jeremy's hardware cafe.

alas, disappointment soon followed. despite the promise of the very cute waiter, coffee and breakfast were both average. not crap, you understand, just average. not even the coffee was worth going back for (which is a pity because that waiter was quite cute.) the service was actually the only thing i could recommend here, which was prompt, attentive and friendly.

neither of our breakfasts came as described on the menu (sourdough and rye are two different types of bread, aren't they, love?) and nothing irks me more! (why put a description on the menu if you are only going to let people down by giving them something different? where do these people go to marketing school?! tch!) in keeping with the half-arsed ,Aeunot bad, but not exactly good,Aeu theme of jeremy's, the poached eggs were nearly (but not quite) cooked through. the entire breakfast was devoid of flavour and we both left ours half-finished a sure sign of mediocrity.

so yeah i'm not going back. it seems i must continue my search your suggestions are, of course, more than welcome =)
