caramel cafe - glenferrie road hawthorn

when you drop the menu in your favourite place, walk across the road to a new joint that's just opened...and don't regret it for a moment...either the old favourite is slipping or the new place rocks. in this case, it's a little of both. and i regret the move not at all.

caramel is one of those places that you immediately like - the staff, the food, the decor. and it's fully licensed. with an outside area. everything from breakfast all day to simple lunches and excellent coffees. oh, and muffins and desserts if you haven't stuffed yourself to bursting point. it's at times like these that i have to ask 'is it so fucking hard'? pay for good staff, buy fresh food, make good coffee and offer breakfast all day (compared to the usual 'i'm sorry but after 11am we are physically unable to crack a couple of eggs and toast a bit of bread' - what the fuck?!).

caramel's got it all going on. you can stop by for a nice coffee and dessert, work your way through eggs and bacon at 3pm or have a pie and salad with a glass of cardy for breakfast - yes, cardy. what more could you want? love the place, my new favourite. now if we could only keep the loudmouth asshole in the corner out, life would be perfect or at least perfect for the breakfast hour from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.
