they've never heard of an espresso martini. mind you, i'd never heard of one until recently but thought the idea of caffeine and alcohol in the same drink was a stroke of genius. even without that knowledge they had a pretty good crack at it and managed to knock up something closely resembling said martini.

but who ever heard of ouzo in a long isalnd iced tea? i mean you get points for trying the espresso martini but you lose them all when you serve up something like this. and me? i had to get behind the bar again (figuratively speaking, more like some back-seat-driving the bar) and explain the long island iced tea construction. i probably should have said half-shots of each spirit but the effect of a double liit is awe inspiring.

in melbourne it would have been packed. in bendigo it's just another small bar that closes at 11.30. but if you had to compare it to the other small bars in benders, it would probably sit on top of the pile. great food, highly recommend the squid, hold the bruschetta.
