hairy canary is one of those places we've been to a number of times but never really thought about writing about. that's not fair. some places we've been to for 5 minutes have got a half-page absolute caning.

but not so with the canary. if you take a good look around, hairy c is a thirty-something kind of bar. people there don't want 50 cent rapping about driving his ass around in rolls. and kudos for the first bar i've seen with a third generation ipod used to play all the tunes. the best word i can use to describe the atmosphere is 'funky.' that's not a bad thing. canary just is what it is and it doesn't try to be everything to everyone. the staff there are pretty good - read 'laid back'. we had a couple of dishes from the tapas menu last night and i have to say they mighty tasty.

once again we enjoyed hairy canary (in spite of a bunch of smokers at the table beside us who apologised for blowing smoke and went right on doing it) and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a few drinks, a quick meal or space to talk. bankers can fuck off, though. your kind are not appreciated here.
